The Polished Home Kim and Katie

The Polished Home

Hi! We are Katie and Kim, founders and owners of The Polished Home Nashville, a professional organizing business providing simple solutions to clutter so you can stress less and live better. We are Nashville natives who began our friendship with sleepovers in fifth grade and now spend most of our time together refereeing play dates with our children (one of whom is now in fifth grade! Full circle moment).

We’ve always been organized, but like the rest of the world, everything changed for us during the pandemic. In the midst of being stuck at home with toddlers, incessantly watching the news, and washing our groceries before we brought them inside, we started organizing our homes and our lives to bring some sense of order to a chaotic time. In doing so, we discovered how impactful it was not only for productivity, but also for our mental health. By minimizing our stuff and setting up organized systems for what was left, we felt calmer and more in control of our lives, and most importantly, we had more time to enjoy our lives within our homes. We didn’t notice how distracted we had been by mess and chaos until we started to get rid of it.

Once we realized what we had been freed from, we couldn’t keep it to ourselves. We had found a tangible, attainable way to improve our lives and our mental wellbeing, and we wanted to help others do the same. Not everyone is as passionate about organizing as we are (we know, it’s weird), but everyone can benefit from living in more organized spaces. So another part of our mission is to make decluttering and staying organized attainable for even the least organized among us. We love bright white spaces with crayons ordered in the colors of the rainbow as much as the next person, but we also know that’s Instagram, not reality. Reality is getting rid of what you don’t need and using what you have to create organized havens within your home. We will gladly find you clear acrylic bins for everything in your pantry, but we will just as gladly make do with the items you already have. Organizing doesn’t have to break the bank or be Insta-worthy—it just has to work for you.

That’s us—now we would love to hear from you! Tell us your organizing and decluttering hopes and dreams, and we would love to help you get one step closer to making them a reality.

xoxo,

Katie Colby and Kim Tingey
